Gossip Platform Apologises To Eddie Peng For Spreading Rumours About Him “Coming Out Of The Closet” With Another Male Star A Year Ago

His work studio wasn’t kidding when they said they will be taking legal action.

Almost exactly a year ago, a rumour that Taiwanese heartthrob Eddie Peng, 39, was planning to go public with his relationship with 37-year-old Taiwanese singer Danson Tang began making its rounds on the internet.

It wasn’t long before Eddie and his team caught wind of the speculations and shut them down. The star took to Weibo to dismiss the claims as “Fake. Lame. Rotten to the core”, while his work studio warned that they have engaged a lawyer and will take legal action against fake news perpetrators.

    They certainly weren’t kidding.

Last Thursday (Jan 13), Eddie’s work studio shared the outcome of their lawsuit on Weibo, expressing their gratitude to the law for upholding justice and to “every friend who gave their care and support”.

According to their lawyer’s statement, since January 2021, numerous videos about “Eddie Peng and a male artiste coming out of the closet” and “Eddie Peng and a male artiste’s love affair” were circulated with malicious intent and without verifying the truth, affecting Eddie’s life and work.

The studio also posted the public apologies from one of the platforms responsible for spreading the rumours, effectively clearing Eddie’s name (while also showing other would-be gossipers that it’s not a good idea to mess with him).

Fans were very happy for Eddie and left comments such as: “Support the protection of rights”, “I’m so angry! It’s been a year and they only just apologised?”, “Don’t spread rumours, don’t believe rumours”, and “You must think twice before slandering someone”.
