Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Wraps Filming; James Gunn Teases Mystery Cast Member
Director James Gunn will now begin editing the movie which is slated to open in May 2023.
James Gunn has teased a mystery star will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The 55-year-old director confirmed on Friday (May 6) night that filming for the final installment of the series has wrapped. He also explained Zoe Saldana's absence in his behind-the-scenes photo because the only one he has with her also included her mystery co-star.
Sharing a photo of himself laughing with Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista and his brother Sean Gunn, he wrote: "And that's a picture wrap on the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.
"I love this amazing cast crew their beautiful talent kind souls. I'm a lucky human to have them on the journey with me for nearly a decade.
"And yes Zoe was with us but the only picture I have with her has an unannounced actor with us!"
A day later, Gunn shared another Instagram post, this time thanking the cast and artisans who have worked on the concluding chapter of Guardians of the Galaxy.
"After over 100 days of shooting & over 3000 shots, this is the slate for the final shot of #GotGVol3, presented to me by the camera crew," he wrote. "It was an easy shot of Rocket seated, 1st with @thejudgegunn, & then nothing there, & took everything in me not to break down sobbing on the spot.
"The majority of the last ten years of my life have been spent working on & thinking about the Guardians. I still have a long road ahead of me with VFX & editing, but it was still momentous to me.
"It is somewhat simple to explain to others how much I love this cast & crew. It is more difficult to explain how much I love these characters — that I see them as parts of myself & parts of those I love, & filming them, & writing their words, is a way of expressing that love.
"Again, I’ll still be working with them over the next year until release, but shooting that last shot was a reminder of the warm impermanence of life & love, & how that impermanence makes it so precious, so valuable, & is a good reason to be grateful for what I have right now.
"Anyway. The camera crew also stuck their hand-made camera lens caps on the back of the slate for me, which is what the second photo is. Much love to you all."
Gunn previously admitted it was "a little bit scary" to be ending the saga.
Speaking on the Hero Nation podcast in January, he said: "I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story... That’s always a little bit scary; I'm doing my best."
He also promised the flick with be “big”. In fact, it will be "so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be." — BANG SHOWBIZ
