HK Actor Sun Xing, 60, Called His 61-Year-Old Son-In-Law ‘Uncle’ When They First Met
He also warned his son-in-law that he would beat him up if he mistreats his 35-year-old daughter.
If you are of a certain vintage, you might remember Hong Kong actor Sun Xing.
After starting his acting career in Hong Kong, he moved to Taiwan in the 90s and shot to fame with dramas like Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils and Jia You Xian Qi (家有仙妻).
In 2011, his image took a hit when he was arrested in Beijing for drug use and possession, and gradually faded from the limelight.
The 60-year-old appears to be making a showbiz comeback. He recently met up with Taiwan media where he shared updates about himself and his family.
He's still got the swagger
He has an 21-year-old son, Sun Heng, with ex-wife, former Malaysian actress Lam Mei Ching. Sun Xing also has a daughter and another son from his first marriage to writer Pan Yang.
He shared a hilarious anecdote about his first meeting with the husband of his 35-year-old daughter Tong Tong.
Before their meeting, Tong Tong told Sun Xing that her husband will pick him up at the airport and that “[he] may not know who calls whom uncle”.
Turns out, his son-in-law is 61 years old — a year older than Sun Xing. Yes, that makes his son-in-law 26 years older than his daughter.
Though Sun Xing was shocked, like Aaron Kwok's dad-in-law, who shares a two-year difference with the Heavenly King, he did not have an issue with their relationship 'cos what’s important is that his daughter is happy.
He's a cool dad
When they met, the first thing Sun Xing said to his son-in-law was, “Uncle, hello.”
He added: “I jokingly warned him, 'You better love my daughter, or I'll beat you up so bad that even your mum won’t recognise you.’”
Even Sun Xing couldn't help but laugh when he shared the story
