Hong Ling, Who Likes Keeping 'Souvenirs' From Film Sets, Left Fiancé Nick Teo “Shocked" With The Latest Thing She Took Home

Seriously, we don’t think anyone can top this keepsake Hong Ling nabbed from the press conference of upcoming Mediacorp drama Fix My Life.

We’ve heard of actors ‘nicking’ or buying back a couple of small items to bring home from film sets — from props that were significant to them (think Jeanette Aw and her beaded slippers from The Little Nyonya), but honestly, this is the first time we’ve heard of someone asking for the entire backdrop from a press conference.

Earlier last week, Hong Ling, 28, shared a short video on her TikTok, revealing she’d done just that after the press conference for her upcoming drama, Fix My Life.

Calling it the “craziest thing” she’s ever asked for in Mediacorp, Hong Ling even added a sweet clip of her fiancé, fellow actor Nick Teo, 33, carrying it out of the studio for her.

And so, 8days.sg dropped the actress a quick text to find out more 'cos seriously, where would she keep the larger-than-life backdrop of her and her Fix My Life co-star James Seah, 32?

Well, it is a very nice backdrop.

As it turns out, no, Hong Ling does not intend to display the backdrop at her place, a 600 sq ft, two-bedroom condo in the central part of Singapore.

"It's too big and it will be very weird to see James' face every single day,” she laughed in a text reply.

Nick's on board with it.

Hong Ling went on to share that she’s always had a habit of keeping some ‘souvenirs' from her projects, be it scripts she likes, to magazines and posters that feature her.

However, this was the first time she’s asked for something so big.

“I was alone when I told the person-in-charge that I wanted the backdrop. After confirming that they would take it down for me, I went to the waiting room and told Nick,” she shared.

As she only told him that she had “asked for something crazy”, Nick initially thought she got the adorable animal towels that they used in the press conference.

But of course, it was not the animal towels.

"He was very shocked. And asked if I was kidding.[It’s] the same reaction I got from the crew. I think I'm the first person who wants the backdrop,” she wrote, adding a laughing emoji.

You want it, you got it.

Rather than feeling regretful that she doesn’t have anything to remember her past projects by, Hong Ling wrote: "I only regret not having much space to keep all my stuff.”

“I need to learn to declutter,” she added. Wonder what Marie Kondo (and James’ Marie-Kondo-inspired character in Fix My Life) has to say about that.

You can watch Fix My Life on meWATCH here. All episodes will be available on-demand from February 13 onwards. The show premieres February 15, weekdays 9pm on Ch 8.
