Jacky Cheung Denies Reports Of Bankruptcy; Says He “Has A Habit Of Saving Up”

Now that's something we should be doing too.

Recently, Heavenly King Jacky Cheung, 60, has been the subject of a rumour claiming that he’s about to declare bankruptcy.

Yes, the same “God of Songs” who dominated album sales in the ‘90s, and is reported to be a multimillionaire from his property investments alone.

According to reports, the rumour first came about ‘cos it’s been a while since the singer took part in any promotional activity, which led to talk that he's in financial trouble. Yes, we know... the power of inference.

So when Jacky recently met the press to celebrate the release of his latest concert tour compilation boxset, A Classic Tour Finale Hong Kong, he took the opportunity to set things straight.

Broke? Who?

Broke? Who?

“I saw some false reports online, [saying] that I’m in big trouble financially, this is a very big misunderstanding. I have the habit of saving up, and I’m still doing well now, rest assured [that] I’m fine!” he said.

Jacky went on to share that he really doesn’t have much work to do these days, laughing: “Although I did discuss some [projects], and wanted to create some work for myself to do, in the end I felt that those weren’t too suited for me, and constantly flip-flopped when it came to my own ideas.”

And since a lot of celebs have hopped on the live streaming bandwagon, Jacky was asked if he would consider doing the same.

His reply tickled the reporters. “I don’t think I have a live streaming machine at home,” he said.

“I have a habit of saving up, buying the device is no problem for me,” he said.

Jacky also shared a sweet anecdote about how he spends his time at home with his wife of 25 years, former Hongkong actress May Lo, 55.

The couple have two daughters together, Zoe, 21, and Zia, 19.

He shared that the most romantic thing he does with his wife is to take a stroll together. “It's like in those documentaries, with the old folks going for a stroll, I’m currently experiencing that [kind of] romance," he added

As for Christmas gifts, Jacky let on that he did not prepare anything special for his daughters this year.

“We all have [each other] in our hearts now, material goods aren’t important anymore. [Being able to] care for and rely on each other is way more important than material goods. Of course, we’ll try our best to fulfil whatever they ask for. I did ask [my daughters what they want], but they said that there was no need for that, so I’ll accept what they said,” he said.
