James Wan Wants Tom Holland To Star In His Remake Of 1990 Horror-Comedy Classic Arachnophobia

Spider-Man takes on killer spiders — what’s not to like?

James Wan, the director of The Conjuring and Aquaman, is producing a remake of the 1990 horror-comedy Arachnophobia — and wants Spider-Man star Tom Holland to be in it.

Taking to his Facebook account to announce the deal, Wan wrote, “One of my two fav spider movies (this, and Kingdom of Spiders)! How do we get Tom Holland in this?” (The Kingdom of the Spiders Wan is referring to is the 1977 creature-feature starring William Shatner.)

Wan probably meant it as a joke but wouldn't that be something if Holland is cast? (Imagine all those potential Spider-Man in-jokes....)

Happy Death Day’s Christopher Landon is onboard as writer and director.

The original Arachnophobia — produced by Steven Spielberg (via his Amblin shingle), with his long-time producer Frank Marshall making his directorial debut — tells the story of a small California town overrun by a colony of deadly South American spiders that were accidentally imported into the US. (Think Gremlins, but with an army of eight-legged freaks.) The film starred Jeff Daniels, John Goodman, and Julian Sands.
