Jon Cryer Wants To Reunite With Charlie Sheen For Another Hot Shots! Movie Following Top Gun: Maverick Success

Jon Cryer played an aviator whose call sign was "Washout" in the 1991 Top Gun parody, Hot Shots!.

Jon Cryer is keen to make a Hot Shots! sequel after the success of Top Gun: Maverick.

Cryer, 57, took to Twitter on Saturday (June 4) and pitched to Hot Shots! star Charlie Sheen whom he also worked opposite on the long-running sitcom Two and a Half Men  to make a follow-up to their Top Gun parody, 1991's Hot Shots!

The Supergirl actor tweeted, “Just saw Top Gun: Maverick. Think it’s time to reunite with Sheen for Hot Shots: Part Tres”.

In Hot Shots!, Sheen played Topper Harley, a Navy fighter pilot (modelled on Tom Cruise's Maverick) while Cryer was grounded aviator Lt. Jim "Washout" Pfaffenbach. Sheen reprised the Topper Harley role in the 1993 sequel, Hot Shots! Part Deux, which poked fun at the Rambo movies; Cryer didn't appear in it.

Since its global roll-out last month, Top Gun: Maverick has made more than US$550 million (S$755 mil) at the box-office.

Top Gun: Maverick is now showing in cinemas. Hot Shots! and Hot Shot! Part Deux are streaming on Disney+.
