Kevin Cheng & Linda Chung’s Comeback TVB Drama Kids’ Lives Matter Met With Disappointing Ratings

All eyes are on TVB’s new blockbuster drama Kids’ Lives Matter, headlined by Kevin Cheng, 52, Kenneth Ma, 47, and Linda Chung, 37.

The medical drama was touted as a guaranteed ratings magnet since it's Kevin’s first TVB outing since 2017 and is also Linda’s comeback project after leaving the station in 2018.

After the show’s premiere on October 18, some viewers criticised Kevin for not showing any improvement in his acting, adding that he employed the same expressions in Kids' as he did in 2011’s Ghetto Justice.

There were also those who stood up for him as they found it too soon to pass judgement.

In its first week, Kids’ Lives Matter’s viewership averaged 18.5 points, which isn’t too far off from crime thriller Murder Diary’s first week ratings of 17.5.

Murder Diary is currently the lowest rated TVB drama ever after averaging 13.8 points during its 25 episode run.

Kids’ Lives Matter also has lower ratings than Take Two, which premiered on the same day and which scored 19.1 in its first week. The former airs in the 9.30pm time slot, while the latter at 8.30pm.

The ratings of both dramas fall behind that of the station’s long-form 8pm drama, Come Back Love: Lo And Behold, which garnered 20.7 points.
