Leah Remini Slams Tom Cruise And Scientology Connections Amid Top Gun: Maverick Success: "Don’t Let The Movie Star Charm Fool You"

Leah Remini has hit out at Tom Cruise on social media, urging fans not to be fooled by his "movie star charm".

Leah Remini has urged Tom Cruise fans to not be fooled by his "movie star charm".

Remini, 51 has taken to social media to praise her friend Claire Headley for calling out Cruise's alleged "crimes against humanity".

Like Remini, Headley and her husband Marc were former Scientologists and the couple had filed a court case against the Church of Scientology in 2009, alleging that the organisation had violated human trafficking laws and people's human rights.

The case was, however, dismissed after the courts decided that the Church of Scientology was protected by 'ministerial exemption', a legal doctrine in US law which protects religious institutions.

Remini, who left the Church of Scientology in 2013, tweeted: "Thank you to my friend @claireheadley for your courage. You have continued to speak out despite the non-stop attacks from Scientology.
"And as Claire says in her post below, Tom Cruise knows exactly what goes on in Scientology.
"Don’t let the movie star charm fool you. (sic)"

But Headley recently took to Facebook to criticise the Top Gun: Maverick star and his decades-long links to the church. Cruise converted to Scientology in 1986 under the influence of his first wife, Mimi Rogers, who has left the church.

She wrote on the social networking platform: "Tom Cruise promotes a dangerous cult that destroyed my family too, the same cult that almost cost me my marriage and my life. The same cult that forced me to have two abortions, and which I fled from in 2005 with the clothes on my back and $200 in my pocket, to which they tracked me down, across state lines, to attempt to prevent my escape.

"Thank God they failed. So no, I will not watch the movie, nor will I ever support or approve of this scam of a man. Trust me, Tom Cruise knows exactly who he is supporting and the abuses the organization perpetrates. I worked with him while I was there.

"No doubt my post will "disappear" with Facebook algorithms, I feel better saying it nonetheless. And thank you to my friends who understand. You know who you are. (sic)"

After leaving Scientology, Remini went on to produce Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, an Emmy-winning docu-series that exposes the church's detrimental effects on members.

Remini who was recently named Matthew Morrison's replacement on So You Think You Can Dance  has frequently called out Cruise's Scientology links.

In 2020 (via US Weekly) she said, “I think it’s time for people to start waking up to the real facts here. Tom has for years manipulated his image to be the good guy." — BANG SHOWBIZ
