Plus, hacks and DIY ideas to take your mask style up a notch.

We can’t say we didn’t see it coming. Now that face masks have become an essential part of our lives and increasingly more brands are jumping on the mask bandwagon, it was a matter of time before people started making accessories and adornments for masks. And it's not all just for the aesthetics. From mask extenders to nose clips to prevent your glasses from fogging, some of these affordable and practical accessories are game changers too.

1 of 9 Face mask chains

Remember those granny glasses chains that all the cool kids were wearing last year? Now they are using them for their face masks. The eyewear leashes double up as hands-free mask holders, so you can keep your mask suspended around your neck instead of keeping it in your bag or pulling it down to your chin when you are eating. We also like having them within reach — you don’t know how many times we’ve left our masks in the car or walked to the restroom mask-less while dining at a restaurant.

These revamped glasses chains now come in a variety of styles like oversized acetate chains, pearls, and beads, and are as fashionable as they are functional, well, unless you are wearing it in the front like Fiona Xie here. Not so grandma-y anymore, huh?

  • 2 of 9 Improvisation at its best

If your glasses chain comes with a lobster clasp, you can just hook it onto the strap of your face mask.

  • 3 of 9 Face mask nose clips, $10.07 for 3

An easy and affordable fix to keep your glasses from fogging up while wearing a reusable mask. Like the bendable strips in surgical masks, this flexible clip molds around your nose, creating a tighter seal and thus preventing your breath from escaping upwards and fogging up your specs. And if you find your masks have loosened after a few washes, pop these on to ensure they stay in place.

  • 4 of 9 Button headbands, $4.50

If your face mask is hurting your ears, you might want to check out these handy headbands. The fabric hairbands come with strategically placed buttons so you can hook your masks onto them, relieving the pressure off your ears. Alternatively, you can DIY by sewing buttons to your favorite headbands, caps or simply clipping the straps to your hair. Brilliant!

  • 5 of 9 Mask extenders, from $0.56

Is the face mask you bought too big or small for your face? These extenders will solve the problem. The nifty silicone straps, which are worn around the back of the head, come with several notches so you can adjust your mask to fit snugly on your face.

The extenders, which also come in the form of S-hook clips and stretchy bands, are also great for keeping masks in place.

  • 7 of 9 Foldable mask case, $5.90

Just as it is vital for you to wear a face mask, it is also important to carry a spare one with you so that you can change when they become wet from sweat or humidity. Not only are damp masks uncomfortable, they are also less effective. With this slim and compact case, you can fold your mask to a quarter of its size and slot it in your pocket or wallet.

  • 8 of 9 Milliot & Co mask case, $16.90

Prefer something roomier for your reusable mask? Here’s a chic option from Milliot & Co. It even comes with mask clips.

  • 9 of 9 Rhinestone and tassel adornments

Okay, these accessories are a little extra but they are great for glamming up your face mask for that special occasion. You can also decorate masks by adding bows or tassels.
