Malaysian DJ’s new car gets stolen 78 hours after she bought it; thief spent less than 2 mins unlocking it

She had reason to believe that the theft was premeditated.

Yesterday (Mar 8), Malaysian jock Wu Jia Run (吴家润), AKA Yoon, took to her Facebook page to share that the car she just bought had been stolen.

Yoon was the owner of her brand new white SUV for a mere 78 hours. She did not name the make and model.

She revealed that the theft took place on Mar 6 around noon, at Seksyen 17 Petaling Jaya, in Selangor.

“During lunch, my husband parked the car outside the restaurant [we were dining at], and when we were leaving, we realised that the car had disappeared! We immediately requested for the restaurant’s CCTV footage, where we saw a person in black walk up to my white SUV. The thief only took one to two minutes before driving my car away like it was his own!” recounted Yoon in her post.

Yoon's Facebook post served as a reminder to other drivers who have yet to install anti-theft systems in their cars

The jock revealed that she initially planned to install an anti-theft lock system and GPS in her car but didn’t expect it to be too late. “The police said that SUVs are very commonly stolen, and the case has already been sent to the judicial court,” she wrote.

She also reminded her followers of the importance of installing an anti-theft system and GPS in new cars before taking it on the road. “I’m considering installing a horizontal steering lock, like the ones from my dad’s time, in my next car!” she added.

Yoon also shared that she is very aggrieved by the incident, and said she “wants to weep, but the tears won’t come out”. Exasperated, she also said that she “felt like tagging the minister for transport” in her post.

Yoon also suspects that there was more to the theft, as the car was stolen in double quick time. A close look at the video she posted showed how deftly the thief was able to unlock the car, before calmly driving away.

“They look very seasoned, and made it look like the car was theirs,” commented one netizen.

Others also chimed in on the post, saying that there was something “fishy” about how her car was stolen, and that it could’ve been an “inside job”.

“There’s a huge possibility that he already left a GPS on the car and prepared a spare key” and “Why does it feel like the thief already had the remote key for your car?” were just some other suspicions left by Yoon’s followers.
