Malaysian Shuttler Lee Chong Wei Gifts Wang Lei His 2016 Olympics Badminton Racket And Jersey; Getai Singer Says He “Will Not Auction It”

Netizens are skeptical though.

Wang Lei, 61, recently became the envy of many when he posted a snap with retired Malaysian badminton star Lee Chong Wei as well as a “priceless” gift from the athlete.

The getai star, who is better known as ‘Mai Yu Ge’ (‘Fish Selling Bro’), had the chance to meet Chong Wei when he was in Malaysia for his live stream gigs and the shuttler gifted him with a framed autographed jersey and badminton racket that he used at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Chong Wei took home the silver medal for the men's singles event that year.

"Thank you Dato' Lee Chong Wei for gifting me this one-of-a-kind badminton racket and jersey. This racket and jersey were the ones he used at the 2016 Olympic Games. To me, they are priceless,” wrote Wang Lei on Facebook.

He also added hashtags in his caption, writing: “Racket and jersey have Lee Chong Wei’s sweat” and “Will not auction them”.

Envious netizens flooded the comments section with thumbs up emojis and remarks like “so lucky” and “jealous”.

There were also fans who were skeptical that Wang Lei would keep his word.

“Can you guarantee you wouldn’t sell it?” wrote one netizen.

Another joked: “The jersey was worth $250,000, [but] is now only worth $2.50 in Wang Lei’s hands.”

Wang Lei had a health scare

This was not the only eventful thing that happened during Wang Lei’s trip.

On Jul 21, Wang Lei shared on Facebook that he was feeling unwell and had to cancel his scheduled live streams.

"I’m in hospital! I cannot carry on due to some issues with my health. I have to cancel the live streams for the next two days. I apologise to the merchants, I will definitely make it up to you,” he wrote.

According to reports, Wang Lei had a health scare when he was in Kuala Lumpur and had to be rushed to the hospital.

Though it is not known what the health issues were, Wang Lei shared some pics of himself getting a check up and IV drip.

Two days later, Wang Lei shared on his socials that he was well and would resume his live stream that night. He also thanked his friends for their prayers and well wishes.

Netizens left comments urging the singer to take it easy and “not to tire himself”.
