Man Utd fans actually showed up at prata shop to claim free prata kosong promo for Liverpool match loss

Prata chain Srisun Express is offering 7 free pratas today to all Man Utd jersey-wearing fans, whose team suffered a shock 7-0 loss to Liverpool last night.

English football club Manchester United suffered its worst defeat last night (Mar 5) since 1931, in a 7-0 shock loss to Liverpool at Anfield for the Premier League. The win was also a record high for Liverpool. Photo: Srisun Express

To console (or troll?) dismayed Red Devils fans, local prata chain Srisun Express held a promotion today offering seven pieces of prata kosong to each fan who showed up at their 24-hour outlets wearing a Man Utd jersey.

Available till midnight

But the promotion comes with some caveats. The redemption is only available from 12.30pm today (Mar 6) to 12am for dine-in customers. 8days.sg checked with Srisun Express and was told that Man U fans can share the free pratas with their friends at the same table. No tapow if you cannot finish the pratas, though.

Fans showed up to claim prata kosong

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there were really people who turned up in Man Utd jerseys to claim their free prata. When 8days.sg dropped by Srisun Express’ Bukit Batok outlet at around 4pm today, a staff member told us that two fans had already come by for prata kosong, though we did not see anyone in a jersey while we were there.

Netizen got 7 pratas

Meanwhile, netizen Marc Hosegai visited the prata chain’s Ang Mo Kio branch at 3pm today in his jersey and posted a photo online. The 34-year-old confirmed with 8days.sg that he got his pile of seven pratas and proceeded to eat them all.

When we asked if he could actually finish seven plain pratas by himself, especially after last night’s match results, Marc admitted: “A bit too much. My record at four [pratas] previously. I struggled through the last two though.”

He tackled the prata alone

In a move that is the complete opposite of Liverpool’s ethos, Marc went to the prata shop alone. “I rather suffer alone with this kind of loss,” he quipped. He noted that the eatery did not require him to consume all the pratas. “They didn’t mention anything, never even say must finish on the spot,” he shared.

But he ate up the pratas, as he opined: “I hate food being wasted and I love prata.” A Srisun staff helped snap a photo of him tucking into the food. “I told him why not take a photo to show those in the [online] comments what Srisun [offered] was true,” said Marc.

8days.sg also asked this man if the free prata helped take the edge off his team’s loss. “It did actually, but of course I would rather have the win and not the prata,” Marc deadpanned.

He added: “This loss hurts, but it does not affect our league standing. The big game for me is this coming Friday actually.”
