McDonald’s S’pore Launches Japanese Yubari Melon Soft Serve Desserts From $1
No Japan VTL, no problem.
It has been almost two years since we could travel to Japan freely, but even if we can’t go to Japan, McDonald’s is bringing the popular holiday destination to us. The fast food giant announced today (Mar 31) that it has launched a Yubari Melon soft serve dessert range. Ooh.
One of the priciest fruits in the world
The Japanese cantaloupes are grown in volcanic ash soil in Yubari, Hokkaido. They are prized for their bright orange, intensely sweet flesh and evenly round shape with smooth skin. These melons are like the tuna of the fruit world; the most premium ones are sold via auction, which can fetch up to US$27,000 (around S$36,000) a pair.
Yubari melon soft serve
And McDonald’s has infused its soft serve desserts with the precious fruit. Or perhaps yubari melon flavouring, since a Yubari Melon Cone goes for just $1.
There’s a melon sundae and Oreo McFlurry too
Other variations include Yubari Melon Twist Cone ($1) with a combination of melon and vanilla soft serve, Yubari Melon Strawberry Sundae ($2.10), Yubari Melon Oreo McFlurry ($3).
Available at McDonald’s Dessert Kiosks, while stocks last.
