Metallica Goes Viral With TikTok Video Featuring Split-Screen "Duet" With Eddie Of Stranger Things

Metallica dropped the TikTok video of them "dueting" on 'Master of Puppets' with Stranger Things character Eddie Munson.

Metallica has posted a TikTok video of them jamming with Stranger Things breakout character Eddie Munson.

On Friday (July 8), Metallica dropped a 58-sec TikTok video of them engaged in a split-screen “duet” with Stranger Things’s heroic headbanger Eddie Munson (portrayed by Joseph Quinn) in the now-classic scene where Eddie plays the group’s 1986 song ‘Master of Puppets’ to distract the demons in the Upside Down.

The video came merely days after the band shared on Instagram how they “were beyond psyched” that ‘Master of Puppets’ was part of the Stranger Things narrative.

“How crazy cool is that?” Metallica gushed. “It’s an incredible honour to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to once again be keeping company with all of the other amazing artists featured in the show.”

At time of writing, the video amassed more than 7 million views, with 1.7 million likes. According to Luminate (per Variety), which collates data for the Billboard charts, on-demand streams for ‘Master of Puppets’ spiked by 650.3% in the week since the Season 4 finale launched on July 1.

While Quinn performed the track on-screen, the guitar tracks for the scene were recorded by Tye Trujillo, the 17-year-old son of Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo.

Trujillo senior wrote on Instagram, “**Spoiler Alert** That’s my boy! Proud of ya Tye! ‘Stranger Things’ finale shredding it on ‘Master of Puppets’ and big thanks to Kirk Hammett on helping!”

Guitarist Kirk Hammett too praised the younger Truillo’s contribution on Instagram. He wrote: “Very proud of my little bro Tye Trujillo who pulled off the lead to ‘Master of Puppets’ for the Netflix show ‘Stranger Things’ – and he’s not a guitar player but a bass player just like his pop!!!”

Metallica recently wrapped the European leg of their tour in Lisbon, Portugal on Friday. They are next to set for Lollapalooza in Chicago, US, on July 28.
