Not An April Fools’ Joke Too: Derrick Hoh, 36, Is Going To Be A Father

Local singer and Project Superstar alum Derrick Hoh announced today (April 1) that his wife is now three months pregnant.

“It's happening! We are expecting! I'm gonna be a daddy to a human! @Uni_hoh is promoted to big sister! Time to train that dad bod!” wrote the 36-year-old on Instagram.

In case you’re wondering, Uni Hoh is Derrick and his wife’s beloved Pomeranian. The couple adopted the dog from animal shelter Voices For Animals nine months ago and they have long considered Uni as their first kid.

  To accompany the news of their impending parenthood, Derrick posted two photos.
  
  The first is of him and his wife kissing Uni. Next to them is a framed ultrasound of their unborn kid, whose gender Derrick has not revealed. The words “Promoted to Big Sister” and “Coming Soon…” are also embossed on part of the picture frame.
  
  The other photo is of Uni next to the framed ultrasound (see pic above).
  
  In a statement released by his agency, Derrick reveals that he and his digital marketing manager wife — he announced their marriage also on April Fools’ Day two years ago —started trying for a baby late last year.
  
  “My wife gave me an early Christmas present late that month so I was kind of shocked to find out we did it on our first cycle!” he says. “We read too many horror stories when it comes to conceiving so we are very grateful, expecting parents.”
  
  Like with all first-time parents, Derrick and his wife are giddy with excitement. He says they would be “building their nursery, shopping for baby-wares” for the next few months, adding that their “favourite activities” to do now are “Pinterest-ing baby stuff on our shared board and visiting the gynae to see our little baby”.
  
  Wonder what surprise Derrick has in store for next April Fools’ Day.
