Remember local girl group Cherry Chocolate Candy? Ex member shares update on the Talentime 2001 winners

It's been 22 years since Cheryl Miles, Claudia Chan and Cristal Simon became Singapore's most famous girl group.

A blast from the past? Dddefinitely.

Facebook page Heritage SG Memories recently shared a photo of now defunct local girl group Cherry Chocolate Candy with the caption: "Who remembers them?"

Well, netizens surely did, correctly naming the band... but not the members.

"Center is Beatrice Chia. Right is Jean Danker. Left I don't know," read one such comment.

Wrong

Stepping in to correct the netizens was none other than ex Cherry Chocolate Candy member Cheryl Miles, who wrote: "The one on the left is me!"

Cheryl, now 48, went on to share an update on what the members have been up to since disbanding in 2008, even sharing a picture of her and ex bandmates, Claudia Chan and Cristal Simon taken recently.

"If you were wondering whatever happened to us… I was a radio DJ for the last 16 years & just left end August 2023 to focus on building my company and to create a candle range," wrote Cheryl.

"The three of us are still good friends but Claudine & Cristal have moved away," she added.

The trio shot to fame in 2001 when they won Mediacorp singing competition Talentime, bagging $25,000 cash, a car, and a one-year singing contract. They later sold the car for $75,000.

They were professional dancers before coming together as a singing group named Crush and later CCCrush before eventually settling on Cherry Chocolate Candy.

According to Cheryl's website, before they were on TV, the group performed at popular nightspot Roar with legendary local powerhouse singer Wendi Koh and her band Sonic Boom.

After winning Talentime, Cherry Chocolate Candy got so popular, they even became ambassadors for McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac, and had their own commercial.

Throwback Thursday, indeed
