Chantalle Ng Apparently Said “Ge Ge” 264 Times In My Star Bride, According To A Fan Of The Mediacorp Drama
That's ge-razy!
Viewers of My Star Bride, here’s something to rejoice over.
The stars of the immensely popular drama, Chantalle Ng and Xu Bin reunited (briefly) on-screen for a short interview on bite-sized Mediacorp series #JustSwipeLah. And it was everything that their fans have been hoping for… and more.
As it turns out, the drama’s crazy-high popularity in China has not escaped the attention of Xu Bin and Chantalle, who both posted about it earlier last month.
As of press time, the show's video views on Douyin has broken the 100 million milestone. Yes, one-hundred-million.
In the #justswipelah interview hosted by Jernelle Oh, who played Chi Lan in Star Bride, Chantalle and Xu Bin revealed that they’ve been keeping up with the latest news from their fans in China.
“I was really happy [when I first found out that it was trending in China], as it means my work is recognised by the overseas audience. I’m very honoured,” said Xu Bin, while Chantalle revealed that she was taken by surprise by the good news.
Because our show has finished airing for five months, [so] it's like a second wave, she beamed.
Xu Bin and Chantalle then proceeded to re-enact some of their characters' more classic lines, including Fang Cao's now iconic “Ge Ge”.
According to Xu Bin, one fan had counted all the times Chantalle said Ge Ge in the drama and the final tally? 264 times over 20 episodes, which works out to about 13 times every ep.
That's Ge-razy!
Chantalle also went on to reveal that she has kept some of the drama's props, like the ring Ge Ge gave Fang Cao, as well as this hairpin (see pic above).
“[The ring’s] still in my bag, I didn't return it,” Chantalle laughed, before adding that she felt that those items have “great memorial value”.
Her answer surprised Xu Bin, who said: No wonder the props department was wondering why their props are always missing!
Jernelle also revealed that Fang Cao and Ge Ge might just be “collaborating again” at the end of the year. Could it be their cameo on upcoming long-form drama, The Heartland Hero or something completely new?
Guess viewers will just have to stay tuned to find out more.

Xu Bin is also starring in My Mini-Me and Me, which is available on demand for free on meWATCH.
