Fann Wong & Christopher Lee’s Son Was Hospitalised For An Ear Infection The Day After His 6th Birthday

Hospital visits are a not-so-fun affair for anyone at any age, but can you imagine having to go the day after your super awesome sixth birthday? Well, that’s precisely what happened to poor Zed Lee, the son of celebrity couple Fann Wong and Christopher Lee.

Yesterday (Aug 10), Fann shared a photo of her little boy, who was wearing a face mask and face shield, reading a book at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. “[We] had to make a trip to the hospital today,” reads her caption, which also included a hashtag for “acute otitis media”, which is an inflammation of the middle ear and is said to be painful. Other than that, the 49-year-old actress did not provide any more details.

Fans and fellow celebs, including Cynthia Koh, Rebecca Lim, Chew Chor Meng, and Pan Lingling flocked to the comments section to leave encouraging messages, which Fann replied to with appreciative heart emojis.

It certainly is a jarring change in mood and scenery compared to her previous post about Zed’s sixth birthday party from the day before (yes, he’s a National Day baby). The kid has always had really cool cakes and this year was no exception, with Baker’s Heart — Fann is a frequent customer and huge, um, fan of theirs — whipping up a Minecraft Dungeons-themed creation for him.

“Happy Birthday my dear Zed,” wrote Fann. “My sunshine, continue to illuminate our lives with your smile and your kind heart [...] and wishing everyone a Happy National day (sic). Heartfelt thanks to our dear friends for the wonderful gifts[.] Our hearts are warm and full[.]”

This isn’t the first time Zed has fallen sick around the time of his birthday. Two years ago, Fann Instagrammed a picture of Zed with his cake in the hospital ward, complete with a hospital bed behind him and a patient ID band on his wrist. Although she did not specify what he was getting treated for, Zed recovered quickly and was soon discharged.

Well, let’s hope he won’t have to spend another birthday at the hospital again.
