Huat a festive time it’s been for the celebs. Fann Wong baked plenty of pineapple tarts with her little helper Zed (can you guess which one was made by him?), Ivy Lee made her own stash of CNY snacks from scratch, Sharon Au whipped up some fried nian gao, and JJ Lin rolled up his sleeves and pampered mum with his cooking.

1 of 21 Fann Wong

What she ate: Pineapple tarts

Yummy factor: For an avid baker like Fann, baking her fave pineapple tarts is probably a given for Chinese New Year. And while she was kneading and shaping her traditional open-faced ones, son Zed also chipped in with his own smiley face version. Too cute!

2 of 21 Justin Ang and Vernon A

What they ate: Lobster pasta

Yummy factor: Travel may be out of the question for now, but a first-class meal is still possible. Justin and Vernon’s meal at airplane-themed resto Lobster Air was full of garlicky goodness — they both had Boston lobsters baked with garlic butter sauce and accompanied by aglio olio.

3 of 21 Ivy Lee

What she ate: CNY goodies

Yummy factor: Even though Ivy is currently based in the UK, it looks like nothing will stop her from celebrating the Year of the Ox with her favourite CNY goodies. Can’t find them in England? No problem. Ivy made the snacks — think bak kwa, Hong Kong-style fried carrot cake, and crisp chiku chips — from scratch. Talk about dedication.

4 of 21 Cynthia Koh, Michelle Chong and Michelle Chia

What they ate: Pizza yusheng

Yummy factor: When you want to lou hei but have grown tired of the usual offerings, the fusion Fortunata Toss Pizza Cynthia and the Michelles had at Supply & Demand may tick all the right boxes. After all, you’ll be tossing organic edible flowers, fried taro strips, edible gold flakes and more — all atop a skinny pizza crust.

5 of 21 JJ Lin

What he ate: Ribeye steak

Yummy factor: Now that JJ Lin is back in Singapore to spend CNY with family, he took the chance to grill up a mean ribeye steak for mummy dearest. And look at that beautiful sear and perfectly pink centre — we bet the meat was juicy.

6 of 21 Lawrence Wong

What he ate: Healthy greens

Yummy factor: Meh. While his fellow celeb friends have been feasting, Lawrence has been opting for an all-greens diet instead in a bid to lose weight (though we don’t think he needs to shed the pounds). Nonetheless, veggies like winter melon and xiao bai cai can be pretty yummy too, especially when there’s a variety of stir-fried options.

7 of 21 Sharon Au

What she ate: Fried nian gao

Yummy factor: Forget French pastries for a bit — Sharon’s getting in the spirit of CNY by frying up her own red bean nian gao, made crispy with a layer of egg coating. Talk about the comforting taste of home!

8 of 21 Pierre Png and Andrea De Cruz

What they ate: Sashimi and yusheng

Yummy factor: Pierre and Andrea had their own healthy and yummy lou hei sesh at home, thanks to the yu sheng gifted by Xiang Yun. And in place of the usual salmon, they chose to pair the salad dish with their own assorted sashimi platter. Nice.

9 of 21 Thomas Ong

What he ate: Ayam penyet

Yummy factor: Thomas may have just found his favourite ayam penyet stall — S.Bistari Changi Village Ayam Penyet in Yishun. It’s been a long time since he’s been impressed with the Indonesian dish, and he especially loved the fried chicken skin, which was probably addictive with the sambal chilli.

10 of 21 James Seah

What he ate: Popiah at

Yummy factor: It’s been proven that James can roll a legit popiah. His attempt at Po Restaurant turned out to be a success, and perfectly stuffed popiahs weren’t the only thing he had — dinner with mum saw him tucking into XO crab carrot cake, roast duck, kueh pie tee, and more.

11 of 21 Kayly Loh

What she ate: Seafood pao fan

Yummy factor: Looking for inspiration to put together a sumptuous dish for the New Year? Take a leaf out of Kayly’s (cook)book and try making seafood pao fan that’s bursting with umami. Her recipe includes all her fave ingredients like lobsters, prawns, scallops, clams, and even features fried rice with eggs for extra oomph.

12 of 21 Xiang Yun

What she ate: Lots of desserts

Yummy factor: Xiang Yun visited Sweet Hut — a friend’s IG-worthy dessert shop — and had her fill of fusion desserts. Think mao shan wang durian mousse, mango pomelo, mango lemongrass pearl with aiyu jelly, and more. Safe to say, she probably left on a sugar high.

13 of 21 Yvonne Lim and Fish Leong

What they ate: Taiwan street snacks

Yummy factor: Yvonne and good friend, Mandopop singer Fish Leong, fuelled up at a roadside stall in Taipei in anticipation of a full day’s worth of festive grocery shopping — think deep-fried prawn rolls, shrimp soup, braised pork noodles, and braised duck eggs. What a spread!

14 of 21   Shane Pow

What he ate: Fried fish skin

Yummy factor: Shane took on the London Fat Duck ghost pepper fish skin challenge, and the spicy snack proved a little too fiery for him to handle. Nonetheless, he highly recommends it, so get yours from Cheers and see if you’ll need a gallon of water after.

15 of 21 Kelly Poon

What she ate: CNY-themed fried rice

Yummy factor: ‘Tis the season to be including bak kwa in just about everything you can think of. But if you’d like to play it safe, adding it in your fried rice with a handful of succulent shrimps like Kelly is a good bet. Want your rice to look more huat? Add a dash of turmeric powder for colour.

16 of 21 Cheryl Wee

What she ate: Thai food

Yummy factor: Cheryl had her fill of Thai signatures in the comfort of her own home, made possible by home delivery from Soi Thai Soi Nice. Think heaps of happy carbs like pad thai and pineapple rice topped with floss and cashew nuts, platters of fried goodies, as well as stir-fried broccoli with braised abalones and mushrooms.

17 of 21 Kimberly Chia

What she ate: Izakaya bites

Yummy factor: Cheers to the weekend! Kimberly spent hers recharging and indulging in comfort food at hand roll bar Rappu, where she enjoyed her Ginzu cocktail with deep-fried nibbles like chicken cartilage and shrimps, as well as cured stingray.

18 of 21 Jean Danker

What she ate: Early Valentine’s Day dinner

Yummy factor: Since she had a day off, Jean took the opportunity to celebrate Valentine’s early at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse over dry-aged steak, grilled salmon, plenty of drinks, and a decadent banana split for dessert. Also, we love how her sangria was served with an ice cube shaped like a rose.

19 of 21 Evelyn Tan

What she ate: Sweet treats

Yummy factor: Now that Evelyn’s wedding is over (congrats!), it’s probably okay to indulge in some cake. She celebrated her dad’s birthday with a rich ondeh ondeh cake from 31Choc, as well as a luscious fruit tart — because why not?

20 of 21 Pornsak

What he ate: Ang ku kueh

Yummy factor: Pornsak’s box of prettily-shaped ang ku kueh from online store Jiak Diam Diam is certainly a treat for the eyes. We like how different hues are used to denote the different fillings like coconut, peanut, and green bean, so there's no chance of a mix up.

21 of 21 Hazelle Teo

What she ate: Hearty brunch

Yummy factor: Hazelle took time to treat herself to a hearty meal on a lazy Sunday at The Social Space, and what spells brunch better than a classic avocado and egg combination on toast, accompanied by a strong brew?
