Former Vasantham Star Anandha Kannan Passes Away At 48
He had a three-decade long career as a host and actor in Singapore and India and was a familiar face on Vasantham for many.
Singaporean actor Anandha Kannan has passed away at 48. According to reports, the actor died from bile duct cancer in Singapore on Monday (Aug 16).
Anandha got his start in showbiz as an actor and host for Mediacorp channel Vasantham. He subsequently moved to Chennai, India in the late ‘90s, where he worked as a VJ for Sun TV, the flagship channel of India’s Sun Group.
Yesterday (Aug 17), both Vasantham and radio station Oli 968 took to their Instagram to post tributes to Anandha.
Anandha appeared on a wide variety of Vasantham shows, including Amali Thumali, Oor Kuruvi, He also hosted the Superstar Challenge 2014 and five seasons of Savaal Singapore, the Tamil version of game show We Are Singaporeans.
987 DJ Joakim Gomez and actress Eswari Gunasagar were some of the local celebs who shared Vasantham and Oli 968’s tribute to Anandha on their IG Stories, while Fauzie Laily shared an anecdote about the late actor.
“[I] was on the same episode of We Are Singaporeans with him, and only have nice memories of how friendly and full of smiles this gentleman was. And his iconic look with the Indian turban/headgear made him stand out” Fauzie wrote.
Fauzie also expressed his heartfelt condolences to [Anandha's] family and the Vasantham community”.
