How Our Stars Spent Chinese New Year in 2019
Huat did your fave celebs get up to during the festive holiday?
Sure, Chinese New Year is that time of the year when your relatives decide that it's alright to ask you how much you earn and when you're getting married. It's also the time of the year when you have to smile awkwardly when you get asked those questions. But aside from that, we love Chinese New Year. After all, when else can you pig out, collect ang pows and just spend quality time with your family and friends... who don't ask you overly personal questions. And judging from their Instagram pics, we're sure the stars agree with us too. Here's what they got up to this CNY.
What's better than one God of Fortune? Two God of Fortunes of course. The Ah Jie got lucky when she managed to snag a pic with Zheng Geping and Pierre Png (both actors dressed up as the deity for Ch 8's Lunar New Year countdown show) as she ushered in the new year.
Like the rest of us, the China-based actor is clearly feeling guilty about pigging out during this festive season. As expected I destroyed all the CNY goodies I laid eyes on upon my return. Note the guilty smile) So I figured I should take some oranges today... You know, for the healthy fibre and whatnot..., wrote Ping Hui.
Fann and hubby Christopher Lee had a rollicking good time lohei-ing with their pals like Vivian Lai, Li Nanxing, Mark Lee, Rayson Tan, Pan Lingling and Constance Song.
The Taiwan-based actress, who is currently working on a new Ch 8 drama, recently relocated her family back to Singapore. While she's now busy settling her kids AJ and Alexa down to life her, she didn't forget to take a cute family pig, we mean pic.
The actor also took a selfie with Pierre in God of Fortune-mode to ensure good luck for huat's to come.
We aren't surprised Dennis and Rui En spent CNY together — after all, they played siblings in The Dream Makers and have remained very close since — but who knew they would look so fetching as little piggies?
Going visiting together! wrote Elvin Ng on IG. We wonder which of the four gets asked When you getting married ah? the most.
It was home for the holidays for the actor who's seen here with his niece and his family's four pooches, including his two furkids Hoshi and Udon. It's the first time I'm spending the new year at my parents' new home and the feeling is great! wrote Desmond. Maybe it was because I was involved in the design process so when I saw how happy my mum and dad were when they entertained our friends and family, I felt an inexplicable sense of warmth inside.
No she did not. Ya Hui made everyone feel bad about themselves for pigging out during CNY by hitting the gym.
We are low-key jealous that Andie and Kate managed to get their kids Aden and Avery to cooperate for a picture-perfect family photo.
You know you ain't getting any younger when your grandma asks you when you're gonna get married. Take it from Ben, who simply replied that he'll get married the next day.
Three flowers, who will get married first? asked Bonnie, channeling every kaypoh auntie during CNY. We have our money on Hong Ling, who's dating fellow actor Nick Teo.
Speaking of Nick and Hong Ling... of course they would go visiting together this year.
Huat huat piggy year from us to you, wrote Shane on IG.
The couple (with matchy-matchy outfits!) took a trip to Jesseca's hometown in Langkawi, where they took this super sweet photo. This is how I want to spend the second day of the Lunar New Year every year, wrote Jess.
This year, QiPeh decided to take their kids overseas for a trip to Guangzhou, Yiwu's hometown. Home with the family in Guangzhou to celebrate Chinese New Year — finding time to date, exercise, run errands, while managing a preschooler and a toddler who lucky for us, discovered a game of picking up “small durians” (says Baby Qi to her brother) and arranging them around the trees, wrote Joanne.
The actor had to work throughout Chinese New Year and by work, we mean, take on daddy duties. Though we're pretty sure Xu Bin enjoyed every moment hanging out with his son.
The actress also hung out at celeb make-up artiste Shaun Lee's place along with Rebecca Lim, Nick Teo, Hong Ling, Bonnie Loo and He Yingying.
It's Sheila's first Chinese New Year as a married woman (she got hitched to banker Deon Woo last January) and surprise, surprise, she's loving how lively and bustling the CNY is now 'cos she gets to celebrate the occasion with not just her family but her in-laws as well.
