Andy Lau And Wife Carol Chu Attend The Wake Of Felix Wong’s Wife; Cause Media Frenzy
They were among the many stars that came to pay their respects to former actress Leung Kit Wah.
Some of the biggest names in Hongkong showbiz turned up to pay their respects at the wake of Felix Wong’s wife, former actress Leung Kit Wah, on Saturday (Jun 13). She died of organ failure on May 26 after a seven-year battle with leukaemia. She was 59.
The wake was held at Universal Funeral Parlour and at the entrance was a memorial photobook which Felix and his daughter, actress Adrian Wong, had put together.
In it were photos of the family, Kit Wah performing, as well as a touching letter Felix penned to his wife about his regrets and some of their unforgettable moments. “I regret not be able to retire and travel the world with you. I regret not being to give you lifelong happiness and good health. I regret not being able to hold your hand and live to a ripe old age with you. But marrying you is my biggest success and my proudest moment.”
He added: “My dear wife, I will never forget how you were like when we first met — bubbly and cute. I will never forget how you were like when we were dating — always smiling and coquettish. I will always remember all that you have taught me, to be polite and responsible. It’s a pity we cannot live to a ripe old age together. Don’t worry about this old man. I will be courageous and carry on living my remaining life with your inextinguishable spirit. I hope to reunite with you in the future, turn into a pair of love birds, and enjoy the remaining world together. Don’t cry, love you always.”
Among the stars that turned up at the wake were Alan Tam, Myolie Wu, Nancy Wu, Frankie Lam, Kenix Kwok, and Michael Miu.
Michael, who was part of TVB's Five Tigers with Felix, told reporters that though Felix looked visibly thinner, he was in good spirits: “He needs to pull himself together, after all, Felix and his daughter were prepared for what was coming. It is a release for them, the actor said.
Heavenly King Andy Lau, who was a member of the Five Tigers too, and his wife Carol Chu also showed up to pay their last respects. They were greeted with a media scrum when their vehicle pulled up at the hall and the situation was so chaotic that staff had to protect them from reporters, who were desperate to get photos of the couple, who are almost never seen in public together.
Dressed in all-black, the couple held hands and did not speak to reporters as they made their way in.
According to reports, the couple left after an hour. It is not known if the other Five Tigers, Tony Leung and Kent Tong, turned up.
The funeral took place the next day, followed by the cremation. Actors Eric Tsang, Wu Fung and Michael were some of the stars who sent Kit Wah off on her final journey.
