Archie Kao, 50, and Zhou Xun, 45, have been married for almost six years, but they've spent most of their wedded life living in different countries. The actress is based in China while he shuttles between the US and Taiwan for work.

The pair was believed to have dated for about a year before getting married in July 2014, but divorce rumours have plagued them ever since. According to reports, Archie was said to have asked for a separation in 2016 but Zhou Xun allegedly had second thoughts about splitting up as she was unwilling to divide her assets with her husband.

Last week, fresh divorce rumours emerged when keen-eyed netizens noticed that Archie had deleted all his Instagram posts that featured Zhou Xun. Comparison photos of his feed before and after the purge showed that he only got rid of snaps with his wife (or is it former wife?).

Oddly enough, those photos that have gone MIA on IG are still there on his Weibo account. Netizens noticed that the last time he posted a photo with her was on October 18, 2016, which was also Zhou Xun's birthday. One netizen who was particularly upset with the divorce rumours wrote: Is it so hard to live the rest of your lives together?

An old episode of documentary-reality series Adventure Life 2, which featured Zhou Xun, was also brought up again as the actress talked about her outlook on love. Admitting that she was envious of her parents' lifelong commitment to each other, the actress said that she felt insecure about her love life.

I won't be able to love in exactly the same way as my parents. [Archie and I] are individuals and we've gone through different things in our lives. I'd like to make my choices while being honest with myself, she said, without elaborating further.

Neither Archie nor Zhou Xun have publicly commented on the rumours at press time.
