It's understatement of Marvel movie proportions to say that COVID-19 has affected the entertainment industry. Around the world, cinemas have been forced to close, production on upcoming TV and movie projects have been halted, and the releases of major blockbusters have been delayed indefinitely.

Like Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings.

Filming for the movie, which is set for release in May 2021, is supposed to be underway in Australia now if not for director Destin Daniel Cretton’s COVID-19 scare. Because he had been in close proximity with people who had tested positive for the virus, he chose to get tested too even though he wasn’t feeling any symptoms. Thankfully, his results came back negative but the whole production had to be suspended due to the pandemic anyway. It's not known when shooting will resume.

1 of 4 Simu's superhero suit reveal? Nah, just JK

Shang-Chi: The Legend of the Ten Rings is the first Marvel film to feature an Asian lead, with Simu Liu (you might recognise him from Netflix’s Kim’s Convenience) cast as the titular role.

The movie’s predominantly Asian cast will also feature Tony Leung, who plays Shang-Chi’s arch-nemesis, the Mandarin, as well as Crazy Rich AsiansAwkwafina. Tony’s appearance also marks the first time a Hongkong actor is cast in a Marvel Studios film.

As Destin and the superheros wait for COVID-19 to die down, he took to IG on Sunday (Apr 19) to share a #throwback pic of himself with the rest of the Shang-Chi cast.

Pre-COVID hang with Awkwafina, Simu Liu and the legend Tony Leung. This was our last night out before Corona punched the world in the face,” wrote the director.

3 of 4 Stop dancing, where's Tony?

This was the first time in months since Tony has appeared on social media. It's why fans of the actor have started to rely on his wife and manager, actress Carina Lau, for updates on him.

Case in point, this vid of Carina dancing to an anti-COVID-19 song, which she posted on IG.

It's a hilarious clip mostly because it seemed so out of character for the usually cool and collected Carina. But it also led many of her followers to ask about her husband's whereabouts. (Ed: Could he be the one taking the vid? Highly possible, right?)

Some even joked that Tony had turned into a “wax figure”, since Carina had posted a figurine of Tony as his In The Mood For Love character right before her dance video.
