Chow Yun Fat’s White Hair Sparks Concern About How He’s Been Dealing With His Mother’s Death
At least he looked like he was in a good mood in his hiking wefie with Carina Lau and Sylvia Chang.
Hongkong screen legend Chow Yun Fat (a.k.a. ‘Fat Gor’ or ‘Big Brother Fat’) is known for his love of hiking and is often featured in the social media updates of his celeb pals when they go trekking together. However, he seems to have made less frequent appearances in recent months, with one of them being the time he and Carina Lau broke a personal record by conquering a distance of 22km together back in April.
Last Friday (Jun 19), fans were pleased to see Fat Gor finally popping up on Carina’s feed again. What made their reunion even more exciting was the fact that they were joined by Taiwanese actress Sylvia Chang. But there was something in the pic that sparked concern among netizens.
It seems Fat Gor now has a head full of white hair, which was peeking out from underneath the cap he was wearing.
Hongkong model Christine Au-Yeung had also shared a couple of pictures with Fat Gor after running into him at a restaurant, and while his hair is a little less obvious in her shots, the greys and whites can still be seen (see below).
Fat Gor’s new look (guess we’re all used to seeing him with perfectly jet-black hair) led to speculation that he has been having a tough time dealing with the death of his mother, who passed away in February this year.
In a recent interview, his older sister, photographer Chow Chung Ling, revealed that while Fat Gor is not always able to hide his sadness, he is actively trying his best to let go of the pain.
While it’s certainly not easy losing a loved one, we think people are also forgetting that Fat Gor is 65 years old already, so all that white hair shouldn’t really come as a surprise. Plus, with the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the world, he probably thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to go for a salon touch-up.
