Steven Ma isn’t the only star pursuing a Master’s degree.

Taiwanese host Blackie Chen, 43, revealed at an event yesterday (Apr 22) that his wife Taiwanese singer Christine Fan, 45, is now studying for her Master’s in “a fashion-related [field]”.

“I encourage her to further her studies if she has the opportunity,” he said.

As a result, Christine has turned down many jobs, and is not likely to make a comeback anytime soon.

1 of 3 Does this have anything to do with the controversy about her academic credentials?

Some Taiwanese media reports have already started to question if she’s furthering her education because of the controversy about her academic credentials.

In case you forgot, Christine was accused of misleading the public into believing she was a Harvard student in 2000 when she was actually studying economics at Harvard Extension School.

She eventually returned to Taiwan to pursue her singing career and did not complete her degree.

Fans will also be seeing a lot less of Blackie. Though the star, who started his own basketball league, P.League+ last year, often receives invites to appear as a guest on variety shows, he turned them down.

It took a lot out of me to run this league. It's very intense and there is relatively little contact with showbiz,” said Blackie.

He lamented that he has been so busy running the league, he hasn’t had a break since last May. He also added that when Christine and their twin six-year-old boys, River and Ryan, want to spend time with him, they would have to visit him at the stadium.

According to Blackie, he has yet to draw a salary, but his finances are still stable as he has other investments.
