Korean star Son Ye Jin will be making, not a crash landing, but a splash in Tinseltown if everything goes well.

Yesterday (Jul 6), Korean media platform Star News reported the Crash Landing On You actress is slated to make her Hollywood debut in upcoming futuristic film Cross.

1 of 3 Sam Worthington

The movie, which will be helmed by In Time director Andrew Niccol, tells the story of a country divided by a border. On one side lives the wealthy and on the other, the impoverished.

Ye Jin is said to play Vera, a single mother who lives near the border in the poor side after her husband dies while attempting to flee the country. The 38-year-old actress will be starring opposite Australian actor Sam Worthington (you might recognise him from Avatar and Clash of the Titans).

While the movie’s concept has been in development since 2009, plans were only put in motion after the director was inspired by the divide between North and South Korea during his trip to Seoul last year. Production is expected to begin in Korea in March 2021.

Ye Jin’s management, MS Team Entertainment, has said that the actress will very likely be starring in the movie.

“Son Ye Jin is in talks for the movie Cross, and the outlook is favourable. Unless there are any huge changes, she’ll be going through with it,” read the statement, adding that Ye Jin is expected to speck English throughout the movie.

3 of 3 Lee Sun Gyun

Meanwhile, Parasite star Lee Sun Gyun (he's the father of the wealthy Park family) has been offered the role of Gideon, the intimidating and powerful leader of the border protection team.

The 45-year-old’s agency, HODU&U Entertainment, said: “Lee Sun Gyun has received a casting offer for Cross and is currently reviewing the offer. He has not yet come to a decision.”

He will also be making his Hollywood debut should he choose to take on the role though it sure isn't his first Hollywood experience given Parasite's success at this year's Oscars.
