Back in 2018, Story Of Yanxi Palace was so popular that it was christened the first mega-hit drama in China. Since then, other dramas have tried (and failed) to emulate its success.

My Heroic Husband changed all that in February this year. The show, which incorporates elements of time-travel and comedy, has become a huge hit both in China and overseas, while the cast members' careers and popularities have been boosted tremendously.

Among them is a face familiar to Singaporeans: former Mediacorp actor Dai Xiangyu (who you might remember as Dai Yangtian).

1 of 2 Hey good looking

The 36-year-old plays the scheming son of a cloth shop owner, who is arguably the biggest baddie in the first half of My Heroic Husband. Despite his villanous on-screen persona, viewers have become huge fans of the actor as they praised him for his stellar acting and “ridiculously good looks”.

He’s been dubbed the “villain I’d be most willing to fall victim to” by some netizens who declared that Xiangyu is “too handsome to play a bad guy”.

2 of 2 Walking on sunshine

This has led to many of them exploring Xiangyu’s previous works, and The Little Nyonya seems to be the most popular. “Get rid of your bad impression of [Xiangyu] in My Heroic Husband by watching The Little Nyonya!” one declared. “I hope casting directors notice him and cast him as the male lead in a blockbuster drama soon. This is what he deserves for his years of hard work.”
