David Tao Reportedly Buying S$14Mil Apartment; Plus A Look At Jay Chou & Wang Leehom’s Multimillion-Dollar Homes
They’re practically real-estate moguls.
Looks like Taiwanese singers are getting in on the real-estate pie too, and boy, do they have deep pockets.
A recent report by Apple Daily revealed that Taiwanese singer David Tao and his wife, Taiwanese heiress Penny Chiang, are looking to buy a new apartment.
And they’re not looking at any old apartment. Penny’s good friend, influencer Janet Yang uploaded a short video of the two of them looking at an upcoming development located near the Da’an Forest Park in Taipei.
In the video, Janet can be heard jokingly asking Penny to buy an apartment for her. Janet later uploaded another video of Penny at a bakery as well, with the caption: “As if buying an apartment is not enough, [Penny]’s also buying bread for me, she’s too nice”.
According to Apple Daily, the particular development Penny was looking at has apartments that measure up to 2740 sq ft. Penny reportedly intends to buy two flats and combine them into a jumbo apartment. That plan will apparently set she and David back by NT$300mil ($14mil).
This will not be the only property in the couple’s portfolio, of course. David reportedly owns three different properties, one of which was gifted to his mother. The couple reportedly feel that the current apartment they’re living in will not be able to accommodate their family when their one-year-old son, nicknamed “Bon Bon”, grows up.
When reached for a comment about Penny going apartment shopping, David’s manager would only say: [Penny] often goes for afternoon tea with her friends, it could be that one of them is looking for an apartment.
David’s far from the only celeb multimillion-dollar homeowner in Taiwan. Singaporean singer JJ Lin recently made the news for splurging NT$400mil (S$18.9mil) on two units in a luxury high-rise apartment in the Neihu district.
Jay and his family live in that very apartment, which reportedly took two years to renovate.

Similarly, Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom, who was the highest-earning singer in Taiwan last year, bought a 6406 sq ft apartment for NT$400mil (S$18.5mil) four years ago. The expansive unit is located in a gated complex along Ren’ai Road in Taipei, and boasts a gorgeous view of the city. But of course, right?
