“I only have my dad’s nose,” quipped Yonghuan at the virtual launch of her first single.

Eric Moo’s 21-year-old daughter Yonghuan has followed in her famous dad’s footsteps and become a singer.

On Monday (Aug 16), she held a virtual press conference in Beijing where she introduced her first single ‘What Is It About You’.

Yonghuan stars in the music video, playing a girl who finally comes to her senses after being repeatedly cheated by her two-timing boyfriend.

The video, said Yonghuan, was inspired by real life, though the plot is a bit exaggerated”.

When the topic came to relationships, Eric, 58, who made a guest appearance via video link, shared that while he doesn’t stop Yonghuan from dating, he never really knows who her real boyfriend is ‘cos “whenever she sees a handsome guy, she claims he is her beau”.

He added: I have only met one of my daughter’s boyfriends. As for which one, I can't tell you, because I have never asked [her]. I only tell her ‘You must be careful and make your feelings clear so that you don't get hurt.’ When it comes to relationships, life, work, and even when you make friends, you will inevitably get hurt, but this is part of growing up.

Eric then went on to say that he is the standard for what Yonghuan looks for in a guy, to which Yonghuan quipped: “Then my standards are really too low.”

Eric then retorted: You are criticising your mum [by saying this]. She married me because I am handsome.

Jokes aside, Eric, who set up a music production company to help launch Yonghuan’s singing career, said he has seen the hard work she’s put in over the years and is proud of how far she has come.

I am very lucky,” Yonghuan said in response. “Dad lets me to do what I want to do. He supports me wholeheartedly and gave me this opportunity to develop my music career.”

As for her mum, Taiwanese former model Pang Meijun, Yonghuan said: I have inherited all the good things from my mother. I only [inherited] a little bit from my dad. My mother is better looking. I am very happy that my face is a copy of my mum's. I only have my dad’s nose.”

Apart from her looks, she also thanked her mum for being her pillar of support, always encouraging and comforting her.

When Yonghuan was 18, she participated in reality singing competition Jungle Voice, where she wowed judges Jam Hsiao and Yoga Lin with her talents.

Not only can she sing, she writes her own music and plays the piano and guitar as well.

In 2019, she enrolled in the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where she studied composition and performance. She returned to Taiwan last year due to the ongoing pandemic and is currently taking a break from her studies to launch her music career.

Eric and Meijun also have another daughter, 15-year-old Yongle.
