It’s been a good two months since Fan Bingbing announced her split from her boyfriend Li Chen. While the news had shocked everyone, it wasn’t as shocking as this new photo of the 40-year-old Chinese actor.

Yesterday (Aug 13), popular Chinese host Xie Na, who is married to singer Zhang Jie, had posted on Weibo a series of photos that she took with the celebrities who had gone to support her hubby’s recent concert at Beijing’s Bird's Nest Stadium. And it was her pic with Li Chen, who hasn’t been seen on screen since his breakup, which got everyone talking because of how “frail and skinny” he has become.

Apart from dating Bingbing, the actor is most famous in China for being part of the Keep Running (aka China’s version of Running Man) crew. On the show, he’s nicknamed ‘Big Black Ox’ because of his muscular physique, brute strength, and tanned skin. He’s also known be very into fitness, which is why netizens are shocked by his “sunken cheeks” and how “haggard” he looks now.

“Li Chen is so unrecognisble now,” wrote one netizen, who added that the actor must still be heartbroken about the split. “Even Meitu Xiuxiu (the Chinese image editing app) won’t be able to cover up the sorrow Li Chen has been through,” wrote another.

Not everyone thinks the same way though. There are also netizens who believe that Xie Na may have gone a bit too far with Meitu’s face slimming function, resulting in Li Chen’s gaunt look.
