G.E.M Is Now The First Female Mandopop Singer To Have 3 Music Videos With Over 100 Million Views On YouTube

She now ties with Jay Chou.

Hongkong popstar G.E.M has yet another reason to celebrate: She just set a new record for being the first female Mandopop singer to have three music videos with over the 100 million views on YouTube.

On June 3, G.E.M's ’Tik Tok’ music video, which was first released in 2018, hit the milestone to join her two other videos, ‘Goodbye’ (108mil views) and ‘Light Years Away’ (217mil views) in the 100 million views club.

The 28-year-old singer now ties with
Jay Chou, who is the only other Mandopop singer to have three music videos soar past the 100 million mark. His songs, ‘Love Confession’, ‘Shouldn’t Be’ and ‘Waiting For You’ are currently sitting at 210mil views, 133mil views and 113mil views respectively.

However, G.E.M’s ‘Light Years Away’ still holds the record for being the most-viewed Chinese language music video on YouTube.

In addition to the three music videos, G.E.M also has several more songs inching towards the 100-million mark, including her 2014 Cantonese hit ‘Like Me’ and 2015’s ‘Away’, both with 80mil views as of press time.

1 of 1 G.E.M and her gem

I'm really happy that my songs are liked by everyone. In the future, I will continue to work hard to write songs and let my music accompany you guys,” G.E.M said to a Chinese news portal, adding that she plans to celebrate the occasion by featuring “a very special male lead” in her next music video.

Hmm… Could it be her stylist boyfriend, Mark Ngai? One can only hope.
