Jay Chou Posts Clip Of Internet Star Nigel Ng Calling Him The "Uncle Roger Of Music"
Guess who was really excited by the endorsement?
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past couple of months, you’ve probably heard of Uncle Roger. Malaysian comedian Nigel Ng created the orange polo tee clad character and shot to overnight fame after a video of him mocking how a British personality cooked rice went viral.
Since then, he’s filmed videos in different food stores around the UK and Europe. His latest was recorded at the machi machi store in Stockholm, where a customer walked in and asked if it was “ Jay Chou’s bubble tea shop”.
Nigel then turned to the camera and said, “Jay Chou, I know you don’t own this place, but you are Uncle Roger’s favourite singer. Fantasy [is] my favourite album (…) If you don’t know Jay Chou, he is a global big superstar. He’s the Uncle Roger of music.”
Less than two days after the video was uploaded, it caught the attention of Jay himself, who reposted the clip on his IG with this short caption: “Hahaha #uncleroger”.
On his own IG, Nigel posted two stories, with the first saying: “Holy sh*t holy sh*t! @jaychou I’m a huge fan!” In the second video, he apologised to Jay for calling him the “Uncle Roger of music” and revealed that Jay’s songs are all he sings at the karaoke.
Netizens were super amused by what went down, with one comment reading: “I wonder if he thought that he would get noticed when he made the video. But when it comes to bubble tea, Jay definitely catches on quickly.”
