Ken Chu Knew His Wife Was The One 'Cos She Stood By Him When He Was Called “The Worst F4 Member”

Love conquers all.

Once upon a time, there were four Taiwanese heartthrobs who ruled the Asian showbiz scene —and the heart of every girl who grew up in the ‘90s — with their floppy, shampoo commercial-worthy hair, dashing good looks and a certain song about watching a meteor shower (you know which one we’re talking about).

It’s been almost two decades since , but impressively, the boys, sorry, men of F4 have managed to age pretty well. Did you see Jerry Yan at this year’s Star Awards?

Okay, most of them have aged pretty well. Over the years, Ken Chu has weathered acid-tongued remarks from netizens who were not impressed by his weight gain.

The antagonism briefly turned to admiration when he lost 18 kg for his wedding in September 2016, but the next year, the hate brigade returned along with his, um, “fluffier” appearance.

The hate got so bad that in December 2017, the 40-year-old took to social media to explain that his bloatedness was the side effect of the medication he was taking to combat fibromyalgia, a condition that causes pain and fatigue.

Thankfully for Ken, there was someone who stuck by him through thick and thin (no pun intended) — his wife, Chinese actress Vivian Han. In fact, his whole ordeal may have been a blessing in disguise because it helped him realise that she was The One.

The couple recently appeared together in an episode of Chinese variety programme The King of Comedy, where they played a couple in a skit. At the end of their performance, Ken got down on one knee and proposed to Vivian with the exact same words he had used when he popped the question in 2016.

“Will you marry me? My money is your money, and I will never let anyone bully you ever again!” he declared.

Although it was just a sketch, Vivian was so touched, she shed some very legit-looking tears.

After this moving display of affection, Ken gave an interview where he revealed how he knew Vivian was the one he wanted to marry — and surprise, surprise, his nasty naysayers had something to do with it.

“Back then, I was always getting questioned for ‘not maintaining my physique’ and was accused of ‘being the worst F4 member’. It really hurt me and made me feel very inferior,” he admitted. “However, through all that, Vivian never left my side, which made me certain that this is the woman I hope to spend the rest of my life with.”

His confession clearly left an impression on viewers, who flooded the Internet with well-wishes for the couple to be happy forever.

Love conquers all, doesn’t it?
