K-drama stars Lee Dong Gun and Jo Yoon Hee, who fell in love after meeting on the set of 2016 drama The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, have announced their divorce after three years of marriage.

They held a private wedding ceremony in September 2017 after registering for marriage in May, and in December that year, Yoon Hee gave birth to their daughter, Lee Roa.

Dong Gun, 39, released a statement through his management, FNC Entertainment, announcing their split.

“We apologise for having to convey this bad news to the fans of Lee Dong Gun. After careful consideration, Lee Dong Gun has decided to file for a divorce, read the statement. On May 22, the final divorce arbitration proceedings were completed at the Seoul Family Court. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, and [Dong Gun] will work harder to leave a better impression as an actor.”

    According to Korean news outlet Dispatch, Dong Gun and Yoon Hee filed for divorce due to “differences in personalities” and that the actress will reportedly get custody of their kid.

    They had too many differences. They came to this decision after many discussions, an acquaintance who claimed to be close to the ex-couple told Dispatch. “Getting custody of their daughter was considered the most important thing in the settlement and Jo Yoon Hee will receive custody.
