Leon Lai Personally Packed Anti-COVID 19 Care Packages For The Needy In Hongkong
Imagine receiving a care package specially packed by the Heavenly King himself.
It’s no secret that Leon Lai has a heart of gold. The Heavenly King has been volunteering with The Community Chest in Hongkong for over 20 years, and has gone from being a board member of the charity, to a vice patron.
With supplies for masks and sanitation products running low in Hongkong, Leon, working together with the Community Chest, has stepped up to provide 50,000 care packages for the needy.
The 53-year-old rolled up his sleeves to pack a number of these care packages, which includes items like masks, rubbing alcohol, anti-bacterial spray, white rice, vitamin C tablets, and packages filled with anti-inflammatory soup ingredients for the recipients to brew.
According to the Community Chest, these packages were distributed to their individual grassroots centres a few days ago. Community Chest members will then individually send these care packages to those in need from this week onwards.
Leon’s charitable act has received with much praise from netizens, who thanked him for doing his part for the community.
In other related news, Hongkong actor Steven Ma has started an organisation, named “Mr Ma’s 'Warmth Delivery' Group”, with the aim of giving masks and hand sanitisers to the needy.
Yesterday (Feb 27) , the 48-year-old announced on his Facebook that he had sent out a number of supplies to the charity organisations working the ground to be delivered to those in need, as well as medical professionals in hospitals. This way, human-to-human contact would be minimised.
