The use of stunt doubles is extremely common in movies and TV shows, but what happens when someone is suspected of having a stand-in on a reality show?

Recently, a netizen took to social media claiming that 50-year-old Taiwanese actor Nicky Wu’s stunt double on variety show Yuan Qi Man Man De Ge Ge (or in English, Brother Full of Vitality) had fallen down and suffered wounds on his knees and elbow.

The post included photos of the abrasions, as well as a shot of Nicky and his co-stars wearing protective gear over their knees and elbows, proving that they were safeguarded from such injuries.

On the other hand, the body doubles were shown wearing the same outfits as the stars, but without any form of protection.

1 of 3 The post that got Nicky hate

As a result, Nicky was slammed for being unprofessional, but it turned out to be a rather malicious piece of #fakenews that was probably conjured up to paint the actor in an unfavourable light.

Some folks pointed out that those ‘stunt doubles’ were actually decoys who were brought in to purposely confuse the players during a game of hide-and-seek and prevent them from catching the real targets.

“If you haven’t watched the show, please refrain from spreading such embarrassing rumours,” wrote one. “Those who have seen the first season would know that they’re supposed to be doppelgängers, not stunt doubles.”

Of course, we still think the decoys should have been given the same protection as the stars to avoid those injuries, but that’s a story for another time.

2 of 3 At least someone has cleared the air for Nicky

Anyway, nice try, haters, but Nicky is actually known to give his all during his variety show performances.

During the first season of Brother Full of Vitality, he pretended to be a photographer in order to win a game at an amusement park, but he was tackled to the ground by six burly security guards who mistook him for a crazy fan.

He was quickly released after the director clarified that he was an artiste, but instead of being angry, all Nicky did was pat the dust off his clothes and apologise to his teammates for failing to win the game with his sneaky method.

The former Little Tigers member is also known to rarely use stunt doubles during filming. He once declared in an interview: “I think I make more money than them, why should they be the ones getting hurt?”

3 of 3 He can manage just fine all by himself, thank you very much
