One unfortunate side effect of the prevalence of photo-editing and beautifying filters these days are the unfair ‘Instagram vs reality’ comparisons between how a person really looks like and their retouched appearances.

However, when it comes to Chinese actress Liu Shishi (aka Cecilia Liu), it seems like what you see on her socials isn’t that far off from what you get in real life.

1 of 4 So the flawlessness is real?

On Wednesday (Apr 7), the 34-year-old mother-of-one made an appearance at a public event and drew a large crowd of onlookers, who happily snapped pics of the star to show off online (see below).

Some of the photos show Shishi from a low side angle, which would probably have been unflattering for most of us.

Not for Mrs. Nicky Wu, though — despite her candid expression and the lack of Photoshop, she looked as gorgeous as ever, with smooth, glowing skin that’s to die for.

Netizens were full of awe and praise for Shishi’s natural beauty, and left gushing remarks such as: “Her condition seems to be getting better and better after giving birth”, “Her face is so small”, “This is too much, she’s basically glowing”, and “She’s a fairy, she has such a beautiful aura”.

This is why it’s so shocking that Shishi once placed last in a poll among Chinese netizens ranking the most beautiful actresses born around the year 1985.

“She got last place???”, “So this is last place? I also want to be last place like this” and “I think the netizens who voted must be blind” are comments that pretty much sum up the incredulity of it.
