For starters, she’s never been that close with the Taiwanese celeb dancer.

Taiwan’s “dancing queenSerena Liu passed away on March 22 after being unable to secure a heart transplant in time, leaving behind her husband of six years, Taiwanese singer Shin Lung, and their four-year-old daughter Ni Ni.

Since her death, Shin Lung has been inconsolable, and many celebrities have been offering to help take care of Ni Ni, including Taiwanese host Dee Hsu. However, a few rumours surrounding Serena's daughter have been swirling, and boy, are they outrageous.

A series of online news clips recently emerged, claiming that Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin has adopted Ni Ni. Because of the serious tone and presentation of the videos, many online users were convinced it was a legitimate report, but it turns out it was just another piece of sensational fake news.

On Apr 29, both Shin Lung and Ruby came forward to address those dubious adoption reports, putting them to rest once and for all.

According to Ruby, she said that she was actually unaware of the adoption rumours until some friends had brought them to her attention. “To be honest, I’ve never been that close with Shin Lung and Serena, so when I first heard about the news, I thought it was funny and wondered where such a report could have come from, she said.

The 44-year-old, a mother to a three-year-old daughter herself, then concluded that it was probably done just to generate clicks (guess it worked for a while). She also believes that “nothing is too bizarre” in the world of online news, and that there’s no need for her to overreact, otherwise it might encourage similar reports in the future.

Shin Lung’s management company has issued a statement on his behalf. It also addressed distasteful rumours about the 48-year-old singer suffering from cancer and getting into a car accident.

“These are all untrue stories that were fabricated by some bad people for the sake of amassing page views,” the statement read. “We urge these unscrupulous media outlets to refrain from attacking and provoking Shin Lung for the sake of generating clicks. He is already extremely upset over the death of his beloved wife, and he needs to keep his emotions in check in order to continue living a normal life, so please give him some space and stop creating something out of nothing.”
