Tony Leung Messes Up Scene In New Film; Netizens Think It’s ‘Cos Of His Long-Sightedness
The screen legend, who’s known for his “Electric Eyes”, got owned by a necklace.
Who knew that all it would take to make highly respected, award-winning Hongkong cinema icon Tony Leung mess up on set would be… a piece of jewellery?
Recently, a behind-the-scenes clip from one of the actor’s upcoming films, action thriller Fox Hunt, went viral ‘cos of his rather cute blunder. In the video, he gifts a diamond necklace to his onscreen love interest, played by former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, and is supposed to put it on for her while looking all manly and romantic.
Alas, that small and simple act proved to be his undoing.
After a few seconds of trying to close the clasp on the necklace (with a hilariously confused expression on his face, we might add), poor furrowed-browed Tony gives up and apologises, having clearly failed to execute the task. Even Olga can’t help but to turn around and chuckle at her co-star.
Although a crew member rushes forward to help him, Tony insists on trying to figure out how to work the accessory himself.
This amusing little display is certainly a stark contrast from the usual intense, brooding Tony, who has even been given the nickname “Electric Eyes” for that magnetic gaze of his. Netizens remarked that it’s obvious the 58-year-old is suffering from presbyopia (aka long-sightedness due to old age), judging from his squint and body language.
Well, at least those comments are better than the age-shaming he was subjected to not too long ago?
Tony’s vision-related struggles may have started a long time ago. In 2014, his wife Carina Lau shared in an interview that she saw him wearing reading glasses and was shocked that he was already becoming an “old man”. Of course, she quickly accepted that it was all just a part of life.
