This TVB Actress Just Bought A S$1.68Mil Apartment But Netizens Don’t Think She Can Actually Afford It

Hongkong actress Katy Kung recently purchased a HK$9.35 million (S$1.68 million) apartment in the upscale Ocean Shores development. You would think this is a cause for celebration since she's been working for over a decade but news of her recent investment has raised eyebrows.

You see, netizens don't think the 30-year-old can actually afford such an expensive apartment. In fact, they believe that she's been leeching off her rich boyfriend. Though Katy has not gone public with any relationship after breaking up with singer-actor Patrick Tang in 2012, many believe that she is currently dating a wealthy Malaysian man named Bryan.

When asked by reporters about new apartment, the actress confirmed that the news is true but declined to comment further, only saying that she will “continue to work hard”.

Little is known about Bryan except that he's said to be the heir of a multi-million dollar family business.

Speculation about Katy's relationship with Bryan intensified last December when she invested a seven-figure sum to open a hotpot restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. Katy told reporters that she co-owns the restaurant with a “close friend”, and that she decided to open a Hongkong-style hotpot eatery in the Malaysian capital as a “personal breakthrough” when she turned 30. And the name of the restaurant, Hey Foon Lei, can be loosely translated to “I like you” in Cantonese.

Katy has also been spotted zipping around Hongkong in an expensive sports car with the number plate KB (which netizens claim stands for Katy Bryan).

Sources close to Katy have also shared that the actress is tried of trying to climb her way up the ranks of TVB and has decided to shift her focus to starting a family instead.

While some netizens have been supportive of the actress, others have not been as kind, with many calling her a “money-minded woman who just wants an easy life”, adding that “there’s no way a nobody like you can afford to buy an apartment like that on your own”.
