Jacqueline Wong’s career has been pretty much been on hold after her affair with Sammi Cheng’s husband, Andy Hui, was exposed last year. Since then, the 31-year-old, who was labelled a homewrecker by the public, has been all but put in cold storage — unofficially, of course — by TVB, which decided that it was in their interests to not have her on screen because of potential audience backlash.

Now, it seems like her days of being in cold storage might be over if the TVB Programme Presentation 2021, a video teasing the station's upcoming shows in the next year, is any indication of it.

The Offliners, a drama that Jacqueline filmed in 2017, was included in the myTV Gold lineup, and two close-ups of the actress were included in the 10-second clip promoting the series. The Offliners was reportedly scheduled to air in November 2019 on TVB, but was shelved indefinitely because of her scandal. (P/S: Her co-star, Owen Cheung, was said to have been so furious when he learned of the fate of the drama he reportedly cussed her out in front of his friends.)

It seems netizens have not been happy with the news about the release of The Offliners. While some have pointed out that a person’s character has nothing to do with her acting, and that the other cast and crew members involved in the production shouldn’t be penalised for Jacqueline’s scandal, others are still not as forgiving.

“If you’re going to let her appear on TV so quickly, isn’t TVB telling us that they don’t care about their artistes being immoral? What does that say about the management’s values?” one netizen ranted, while others agreed that it’s “much too soon” to see Jacqueline on screen again. Some have even suggested that she be “banned from ever appearing on TV again.

I’ll change the channel if I see her appear on screen. The best kind of feedback we can give TVB is terrible ratings for every show that Jacqueline is in, said one netizen.
