Veteran Hongkong actress Fung Bo Bo was holidaying with her son in Bangkok more than a month ago when she got into a car accident on the highway. According to reports, she had broken her nose during the crash but after staying in the hospital for a day, the trooper decided to carry on with her vacation. Four days later, the 64-year-old star then flew to Singapore to fix her nose where she was hospitalised for five days. It would eventually take her almost a month to make a full recovery.

Bo Bo made her first public appearance post-surgery on July 20 at the 3rd Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) where she had presented a finally healthy Sammo Hung with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Judging from the pics of the event, it's impossible to imagine that Bo Bo had a near-death experience just a month earlier.

Last Saturday (Aug 3), Bo Bo was a guest speaker at a mental health seminar in Hongkong where she shared her experience with depression. “When I got into the accident, I thought that if I were to just die like that, is there anything else I’m leaving behind apart from my movies?” she said. “And even then, all my movies will slowly be forgotten by everyone. And so, I decided to have today’s seminar so I can share with everyone my experience.”

She then said that she is currently on anti-depressants and is hoping for the day where she can stop taking the medication.

Bo Bo had gotten her start in showbiz at the tender age of two, where she was touted as a child prodigy. Over her illustrious 60-year career, she’s said to have starred in over 200 movies, including classics like The Great Devotion (1960) and Endless Love (1993). She also holds the record for being the child star who has filmed the most movies in Chinese film history. It's said that Bo Bo, who divorced her second husband, a renowned Malaysian architect, in 2012 after 13 years of marriage, continues to live in Penang. She has two sons, one 38 and the other 36, with her first husband, whom she married in 1977. Their marriage lasted nine years.
