Vincent Wong was the big winner at the 2020 TVB Anniversary Awards last night (Jan 10), scooping up three awards including Best Actor for his role as a righteous blind lawyer in Legal Mavericks 2020. Sisley Choi was crowned Best Actress for the same show.

Vincent, who was up against Kenneth Ma, Raymond Lam, Moses Chan, and Wayne Lai, had been the hot favourite to win the award, which he also snagged in 2017 for the same role. The 37-year-old also won awards for Best Partnership with his Al Cappuccino co-stars Owen Cheung and Brian Chu, as well as Malaysia’s Favourite TVB Actor.

1 of 5 This was Yoyo's reaction to her husband's win

However, what got netizens talking wasn’t Vincent’s triple wins, but his 39-year-old wife, TVB actress Yoyo Chen’s reaction, or lack thereof, when he thanked her on stage.

In his acceptance speech, Vincent thanked Yoyo for taking good care of their eight-year-old daughter, but when the camera cut to the actress, she simply looked at him blankly, her expressionless reaction fueling rumours of trouble in their marriage again.

And netizens took delight in the unscripted moment.

Sisley Choi should give her Best Actress award to [Yoyo], said one sarcastic netizen, while another wrote: This is the best thing I’ve seen all night!

2 of 5 Yoyo congratulating Vincent

Later, when all the actors gathered on stage before the award for Best Drama was presented, Yoyo was snapped congratulating Vincent and giving him a hug, which only further triggered netizens as they believe she was doing it just for show.

But there were also netizens who praised Yoyo for being a “role model” and “gracious” for congratulating Vincent.

  • 3 of 5 Was it really just for show?

When asked about her reaction, Yoyo admitted she was stunned when Vincent thanked her: Maybe I... was distracted. He suddenly said it, [and that’s how] I responded.”

She added that she was distracted because she was too happy, but brushed off what many are calling a grand gesture, saying that Vincent has publicly thanked her in the past.

4 of 5 Vincent has always thanked Yoyo in his acceptance speeches

When quizzed by reporters after his win, Vincent also echoed his wife's words, saying he always thanks Yoyo in his acceptance speeches: It is only right to thank her on stage.

He attributed Yoyo’s lack of reaction to the cold weather and that she was probably very tired from the long day.

He added that there are no plans to celebrate and that they would be going straight home to bed. I rarely celebrate [such occasions] in the past, and that includes my own birthdays, he said.

Interestingly, Yoyo got a lift home from Edwin Siu and his wife Priscilla Wong right after the awards, leaving Vincent alone in TVB where he faced the media scrum.

5 of 5 Their marriage is rumoured to be on the rocks

Vincent and Yoyo’s nine-year marriage has been rumoured to be on the rocks for quite some time, with sources saying that it's his philandering ways that's creating trouble in their relationship.

Vincent has been linked to several women in the past, including disgraced actress Jacqueline Wong. Last year, Yoyo further fuelled divorce rumours when she shared a cryptic Instagram post about a homewrecker on Vincent’s birthday.
