Vivian Hsu, 45, has declared that she will never have another child because of how tough her first pregnancy was.

In 2015, she gave birth to her son Dalton at the age of 40. It was considered a high-risk pregnancy because of her age, but Vivian persevered and did everything she could to keep the baby. That included being confined to her bed for 142 days (that's almost five months), and receiving more than 300 injections to stabilise the fetus.

Among the many health problems she faced was poor blood circulation and a sensitive stomach, which led doctors to worry that she would miscarry if she wasn't careful.

The actress said that the only way she was able to pass time while confined to her hospital room was to go on 'vacation' using her imagination. She would get her family members to bring outfits for her to change into so that she could take photos in her ward.

Vivian said, I didn't have a photo of myself standing up while I was pregnant. There was once I had to stand up for the doctors to examine me, and I got someone to take a photo of me because it was such a momentous occasion.

After all the hardship she's gone through to have Dalton, who is now five, Vivian says that her biggest fear is that he would lose her if she tries for another child. I'm afraid that I would die if I get pregnant again, she said. And if that happens, my son won't have his mother by his side.
