Since Fan Bingbing's high-profile tax scandal back in 2018, she has more or less been dethroned as the queen bee among A-list actresses in China. The 38-year-old also hasn’t picked up any new acting gigs in the mainland and has also been dropped from all her major endorsements,

It's why the business-savvy star has decided to diversify her brand — she is still one of China's most famous stars. On top of starting her own beauty label, Fan Beauty, she has also embarked on a new career selling items on live stream, which reportedly earns her more than what she got paid filming movies.

Last March, she was spotted at the opening of the Miaomei Beauty Clinic in Beijing, which reports claimed belonged to actress. Bingbing flatly denied the rumours, and her friend, Chinese designer Zhang Shuai, then stepped forward to say that he is the owner of the clinic.

Netizens, however, took things into their own hands as they ran a background check on the clinic and found out that the parent company is owned by, well, Bingbing’s parents. Her mum and dad own 98 per cent and 2 per cent of the company’s shares respectively.

Well, we guess she’s right in saying that the clinic isn’t hers — at least not legally — but that’s just semantics right?

According to reports, the clinic's customers are split into different VIP tiers, with the lowest, the 'Fairy tier', requiring a minimum spend of RMB50K (S$9.8K). On the other hand, the highest tier aka the 'Empress tier', requires a customer to spend at least 1mil yuan (S$196K).

These prices have set the Miaomei Beauty Clinic apart from the other some of the other aesthetic clinics in the city.

Sadly, because of Bingbing’s fall from grace, there's a certain stigma with being associated with the clinic. That’s why Zhou Xun’s recent visit there means a lot. The actress was photographed at the clinic with her assistant, and stayed for a couple of hours before leaving. Although Bingbing was nowhere to be seen, netizens have seen it as a show of solidarity on Zhou Xun's part, which is a big thing since the two actresses were once rumoured to be on bad terms.

“Being rising stars in the same company [when they first started out] definitely wasn’t easy on them,” one wrote. “I can understand that they were competing against each other for better opportunities, but I don’t think they were ever enemies.”

Another netizen added that Zhou Xun visiting the clinic could be a sign that the industry is warming up to Bingbing again and no longer treating her like some kind of pariah.

“Fan Bingbing definitely made a mistake, but I don’t think that what she did is unforgivable. As long as she makes amends and not repeat what she did, I wouldn’t mind watching her beautiful face and incredible talent on screen again.”
