There’re a few scenes in this awful sequel to Tokyo Raiders and Seoul Raiders, where Tony Leung Chiu-Wai’s bounty hunter Lin Kaifeng conducts a private conversation in Klingon — that made-up alien dialect in the Star Trek movies — because he’s afraid the CIA may eavesdrop on him.
Only a Trekker can verify if it’s Klingon or just gibberish. It’s probably the latter. Like the rest of the movie, where Leung goes around Rome with franchise newbie Kris Wu, looking for a doomsday device called Hand of God.
It’s like watching the formless, thrill-free Andy Lau caper The Adventurers all over again except that movie has a script; this one only has a call sheet. You know something is wrong when the cast seems to be having way too much fun than the audience. (*1/2)
