The third and latest season of Lethal Weapon is a reboot of sorts.

Clayne Crawford, who played loose-cannon cop Martin Riggs, is out of the picture: He was fired from the show for his poor on-set behaviour (that resulted in frequent clashes with Wayans), and Riggs was killed off in the Season 2 finale.

Enter Seann William Scott, aka American Pie’s Stifler, as Wesley Cole, the new partner of Damon Wayans’ Roger Murtaugh. Because Scott is known predominantly his comedy work, the season premiere is designed to show off his action chomps (wait, have you seen him with Dwayne Johnson in The Rundown?).

So we get to see Cole kicking ass and taking names first as a CIA agent in Syria and later a beat cop in LA where he crosses paths with Murtaugh, still reeling from Riggs’ murder. (This time, it's Murtaugh who needs to see the department's shrink, played by Jordana Brewster).

Cole is just as lethal as Riggs, but is nowhere as suicidal as his predecessor. Unlike Riggs, Cole is a much sunnier fellow, a divorcee trying to patch things up with his ex (Psych’s Maggie Lawson) and his daughter. By pairing two family men, it adds an interesting dynamic to an already explosive partnership.

Watch it on: Wed, WarnerTV (Singtel TV Ch 306 & StarHub Ch 515), 9pm.
