Shane Pow’s Last Episode On The Heartland Hero Airs; Netizens Praise His Performance
James Seah will replace Shane from episode 35 onwards and the episode will air on Tuesday (Oct 19).
On October 14, former Mediacorp actor Shane Pow, 30, said goodbye to Zhong Yiyuan, his character on episode 31 of longform drama The Heartland Hero.
The character is a “cute and happy” former convict who is encouraged to turn over a new leaf by Elvin Ng, 40, who plays Mao Ge in the drama.
For those out of the loop, Shane’s character didn't die or anything. Instead, James Seah, 31, will replace Shane as Zhong Yiyuan from episode 35 onwards. James’ first episode will air on Tuesday (Oct 19).
The switch was made after Shane parted ways with Mediacorp following his drink driving charge. Shane was sentenced to five weeks' jail in April. He was released in August, and is now managed by Li Nanxing’s artiste management agency LNX Global.
The actor shared a picture of him and Elvin together on set, writing that this was “one of the most memorable shows” he’s done, adding that he's grateful to be part of the journey. He also thanked his followers and viewers for supporting the drama.
“Miss you gege,” commented Bonnie Loo, 27, who plays café assistant Sofy in the drama, while Elvin wrote: It was real [and] memorable. Thank you.”
Even The Heartland Hero's executive producer, Leong Lye Lin, weighed in, thanking Shane for his hard work.
Thanks for the good job!!!” she wrote.
A number of netizens also left comments praising Shane’s performance in the show.
That part was meant for you. You were so natural in that role. You did well,” wrote one netizen.
Oh, Shane's replacement James also left a comment, writing: ”If you’re ABC, then am I DEF?”, which is reference to Yiyuan’s catchphrase in the show.
Shane then replied: “You're ILY”, aka ‘I love you’.
Aww…
